Children who have a history of clumsy or uncoordinated skills, do things in slow or inefficient ways and find it hard to be flexible in their approach to tasks may require a Developmental Coordination Disorder assessment. This involves completion of a standardised motor skills assessment and comparing the child’s performance to the expected levels of children of the same age. We assist Paediatricians to rule out other possible reasons for this presentation and link this to functional difficulties in everyday tasks. A formal report is written also to assist with school requirements and funding applications for additional time.
